A large mining manufacturer and rebuild facility recently decided to spruce up their two welding bay areas. The company already had some stations with source capture arms and collectors, but was not pleased with how they were performing. They looked at several solutions that might be a more efficient and cost effective in the long term. An evaluation of installation cost of a large central system versus a packaged air filtration solution confirmed the benefits of the ambient air cleaners. The evaluation led them to choose the Industrial Maid T-7500 X 6 air cleaners. The bay areas are 65’ X 325’ with 35’ ceilings. Using (13) T-7500 X 6 units with 5 HP belt drive blower packages & soft start preprogrammed VFD’s in each welding bay has proven to be a very cost effective choice. The variable frequency drives are programmed to soft start the units and slowly ramp up as the filters become loaded with dust and fumes. The electrical cost for these units is 1/3 that of a central system and the initial purchase price was ½ that of a central dust collection system. Overall the plant has seen several positive results:
