Eliminating Gases and Odors

Odor, gas, and vapor control is a must in certain industries, including restaurants and food prep, machine shops, diesel shops, auto mechanic shops, agricultural, cafeterias and lunchrooms, beauty salons, and cannabis-grow houses and farm shops. All have different types of odors and vapors that are either currently regulated, in the process of becoming regulated, or just hard-to-handle daily.

There are several options to control and eliminate odor, gas, and vapor that are dependent upon your industry, the processes and materials used in your business, and the objective you’re looking to achieve.

  • Industrial Air Filtration units, such as the AZTech T-Series Industrial Air Cleaners, pull contaminated air from the work area through highly efficient air filters that separate harmful particles and then re-circulate it back into the room.
  • The AZTech I-Series Commercial and Industrial Air Purifier units use a combination of high-efficiency air filters to remove harmful particles and then project +/- ions into the room. The ions break down the chemical, cleaning, and other gases and odors into harmless compounds like O2, CO2, N2, and H2O, leaving the air fresh smelling and free of harmful odor-causing VOCs.
  • Additionally, ducted air cleaners collect welding smoke and fumes, grinding dust, oil mist, vapors, odors, and soldering fumes through your ducting system and oil mist collectors filter unwanted mist, grit, and smoke from your machining centers.

At Industrial Maid, eliminating odor and vapor for businesses is a focus—and we have plenty of solutions that can handle the job for your business and your industry. We are happy to consult with you on the best solution for your shop.

The Health Effects of Odors

Odors can cause health effects. The severity or extent of the impact is dependent upon several different factors, including the type and concentration of the chemical in the air, length of exposure, and the sensitivity of the person as we all react to chemicals in different ways.

Health effects can range from none to mild to more severe. Some chemicals with strong odors or in high concentrations could cause eye, nose, throat, or lung irritation that leads to a burning feeling or coughing and wheezing. Another common side effect of odors is headaches, dizziness, and nausea.

It’s challenging to measure odors, as standard sampling methods are not designed to capture the wide variety of chemicals that cause odors. And, understanding the odor levels and effects of being exposed varies so greatly person-to-person that a standard exposure tolerance is difficult. Therefore, it is important for industries whose staff and visitors are exposed to odors daily, to ventilate the air or take other precautions.
